Construction professionals of the future from Lovell sites across the UK came to the RBL headquarters for a day learning all things foundatons, pre-cast manufacture, piling, ground improvement and site investigation. The day concluded with a demonstration of the latest rig designed and built at the company’s Midlands headquarters.
The youngsters are working towards their NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management, an 18 month course incorporating off site training focussing on technical skills and embracing all aspects of the building industry.
As Lovell’s Operations Manager Tony Sellwood explained: “It is relatively new in the building industry and I don’t know of any other company that is taking their training to this new level. It is extremely important to us to develop a deeper knowledge in our managers rather than just learning systems and procedures.”
“It has been fabulous to spend the day at Bullivants and see the many different elements of the construction industry on one site,” he added.
As well as talks on site investigation, packaged foundations, foundation design, piling techniques and ground improvement, the students were given practical demonstrations of foundation laying and a tour of the pre-cast manufacturing facility.
