A new position is created within the technical department of a Joint Venture project to assist the production of workshop drawings for pre-cast elements for a major infrastructure project.

The Structural Engineer is expected to bring design and detailing experience in reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete. You will be responsible for solving design queries for the JV’s detailing subcontractor and implement standard solutions to accelerate the creation of workshop drawings while ensuring quality.

It is also required that this person will manage the revision process for drawings (Tekla), perform structural assessments if required (Global/Local), and supervise document controlling activities (ProjectWise). The position will be focused on the several cross sections in the production yard: T-beam, I-beam, IT-beam.

The main tasks this person will deal with daily include:

  • Review and comprehend all project specifications, design drawings, and project requirements provided by the client,
  • Manage subcontractor TEKLA coordinator in the production of workshop drawings and implementation of standard solutions
  • Review workshop drawings to ensure buildability for the production team,
  • Perform required structural analysis to assess/design/justify additional detailing requirements to produce beams.
  • Collaborate with the Client to resolve clashes and design errors including participation to design meetings with the Client/Designer as required.
  • Review workshop drawings to verify the accuracy and completeness of the drawings prior to transmittal to the client,
  • Manage the revision/comment rounds between the JV and the Client’s/Designer’s team.
  • Coordinate activities with the document controller to upload and transmit technical packages.
  • Ensure workshop drawings are issued timely to meet program requirements and maintain continuity of production in the factory.
  • In co-operation with the Technical Manager and Production Manager, review the workshop drawings priority list and make proposals to deal with changes to the program,
  • Technical Assistance to the production team during beam and prop manufacture,
  • Report progress to the Technical Manager.
  • Such other duties as the company may from time to time reasonably direct.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Reinforced and prestressed concrete detailing and shop drawings experience
  • Reinforced Concrete structural analysis including strut and tie analysis
  • Precast beam design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding/Knowledge of Tekla Structures and ProjectWise

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.

Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural Engineering.
